Robert Shepperd

Born in Miami, Florida, Robert Shepperd and his family moved to central Virginia in 1968. He developed his painting technique based on a class he took in 1986 in a Lynchburg Recreation Department class taught by the late artist Buck Tyree. After one year Robert Shepperd started entering his work in art shows and selling his paintings.

Life and a full-time job interrupted, but Robert managed to keep painting and expanding his talent until 2007 when he once again started to enter his paintings in local competitions. His paintings have garnered regional attention with honors such as the 2010 Amherst Art Society 2nd-Acrylics award and Artists’ Choice as well as 2010 Lynchburg Art Festival McBride Blackburn Opticians Award. The next year, he won 2011 Amherst Art Society 1st-Acrylics Award, 2011 Artists’ Choice, as well as 2011 Smith Mountain Arts Council 1st-Acrylics Award.
