Mr. Wise was a famous Bluegrass music fiddle player who played with Bill Monroe and The Bluegrass Boys at The Grand ole Opry for many years, and with Flatt & Scruggs, Hank Snow & the Rainbow Ranch Boys, The Bass Mountain Boys and many other top bluegrass groups who performed throughout the US, and during his career he performed at several venues in the Roanoke-Bent Mountain-New River Valley areas. I drew and painted this portrait of him the year before he passed away in 1996 after I had seen him perform at The State Farmer’s Market in Raleigh, North Carolina.
